In this time of year for making resolutions, small and mid-sized contractors should resolve themselves to better cybersecurity preparedness in 2015. The federal government has been busy passing laws and issuing regulations to impose cybersecurity requirements on prime contractors and subcontractors, and more are on the way.

Small businesses are not exempt from the growing number of cybersecurity requirements or cyber threats. In fact, small businesses are a prime target because they generally have less cybersecurity measures in place. Lapses in cybersecurity can have serious ramifications for your business, including litigation, fines, adverse past performance ratings, and exclusion from contracts, not to mention the lost productivity, lost data, and costs resulting from a cyber incident.

Therefore, it is critical for contractors to understand the recent cybersecurity developments, particularly how they impact security protocols for contractor information systems and obligations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).

Please join Jon Williams from PilieroMazza, and Steve Chafitz of e-End, for a joint webinar that will provide you with the key information you need to understand and prepare for cybersecurity requirements that should be on your radar in 2015.

Topics will include:

  • What do recently implemented rules mean for safeguarding unclassified controlled technical information and supply chain security?
  • How will rules coming soon on rapid reporting of cyber incidents impact your business?
  • What are the expected legislative developments in the 2015 NDAA and beyond?
  • How do cybersecurity requirements impact your obligations for disposing old equipment?
  • What resolutions should you make in the New Year for your cybersecurity policy and procedures for regulations such as HIPAA?
  • How you must handle equipment and data taken out of service.
