Matt’s litigation practice focuses primarily on general commercial litigation matters, including representing government contractors and other businesses in contract disputes, labor and employment litigation, business-to-business transaction disputes, business torts, unfair competition, and investigations by the federal and state governments.  He also counsels businesses on risk management matters to help them avoid litigation and protect their bottom line.

Before joining PilieroMazza, Matt was an associate with law firms in the Baltimore/Annapolis, Maryland region, where he handled an array of civil matters in state and federal courts and defended railroad companies against claims brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act. He is admitted to the state and federal courts of Maryland, as well as in the District of Columbia.

Matt received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. During law school, he served as an Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender, and Class. He was also a member of his law school’s Moot Court Board and further served as a Teaching and Writing Fellow to first-year law students. In addition, Matt was a Student-Attorney in the Post-Conviction and Appellate Advocacy Clinic where he represented indigent criminal defendants on direct appeals of their convictions.
