PilieroMazza is pleased to announce that Michael Thurmond has joined the Firm as an Associate in its Business & Transactions Group. He supports clients in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. “Michael’s understanding of business priorities in M&A and 360-degree approach to private equity deals are a perfect fit for our team—and our clients,” said Kathryn Hickey, Practice Group Chair for the Business & Transactions Group.
Michael conducts all phases of due diligence investigations, including preparing memoranda and disclosure schedules. He also advises clients on general corporate governance matters and works on investment, joint venture, manufacturing, and distributorship agreements.
Prior to joining PilieroMazza, Michael was an M&A attorney for a large multinational law firm, where he worked on private equity, real estate, and leveraged finance transactions. He has also worked in Guangzhou, China for a boutique law firm, where he focused on commercial drafting, corporate advisory services, and dispute resolution for entities based in China and the United States. He earned his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is licensed to practice law in Washington, DC, and North Carolina.
